Communities That Care (CTC)

A community prevention process that uses local priorities and tested strategies to support healthy youth development.

What it means

CTC organizes a coalition around local risks, protective supports, and prevention resources. Partners choose strategies, support implementation, and evaluate results.

The Center for Communities That Care provides training and implementation support. ICM explains the approach and its connections to community infrastructure; it does not replace the Center’s materials.

Here is an example to work through. The linked source explains the idea or guest account. The next move is ICM guidance.

Where it shows up
Partners want to choose an evidence-based youth program before asking what local young people need.
A useful move
Use CTC's local risk and protection assessment and coalition process to set priorities, choose a tested approach, and support delivery and review.
What this does not prove
An ICM summary cannot replace the Center's training, tools, or evaluation of local implementation.
